Woven Histories: Textiles and Modern Abstraction pays homage to the history and intersection between art and woven textiles over the past century. The relationship between abstract art and woven textiles is collaborative and interdependent, and the woven pieces on display represent this interconnection of art forms. With over 150 works by an international and transhistorical group of artists, this exhibition reveals how shifting relations among abstract art, fashion, design, and craft shaped – and continue to shape – aesthetic, cultural, and socio-political forces today. Showing at LACMA, this exhibition starts September 17th and runs until the last week of January next year.
