On view in the London gallery from October 2023, Daniel Richter’s latest body of work reestablishes the human form as the central subject of his paintings. He presents a group of paintings that portray biomorphic forms in a series of twisting, metamorphic poses. Articulated using strong, graphic lines that contain the brightly-colored ‘smears’ of paint let loose across his earlier canvases, bodies are framed by solid, monochromatic grounds. Expressed with greater definition, the tense, muscular forms that populate these works vibrate with an energy imparted through the artist’s bold palette and dynamic mark-making, offering a powerful reflection on the complexities of the human condition.
Presented by Thaddaeus Ropac, the show runs until 1 December 2023.
